COMBAT SPARRING vs MMA

The first reaction to this heading might be "Which is better Combat Sparring or MMA?" A better question might be "What's the difference?"

MMA is the growing sport that has caused many people to take a second look at martial arts. You may have also noticed a great deal of schools are now teaching it. Many teach a "mix" of Kickboxing, and grappling, and the general public has accepted this as what MMA means.

WHAT IS COMBAT SPARRING?

As an additional option to our martial arts classes, we teach Combat Sparring classes. This is something our school and many other systems have done for hundreds of years. Combat sparring covers everything MMA fighters learn and goes one step further. Classes are physically and mentally challenging, but anyone with the will to work can do well.

Some things to consider:

1. How do I fight more than one opponent?
2. What can I do to an opponent on the street that I cannot do in the ring?
3. What can I expect in a fight if there are no rules?
4. How do I deal with weapons in a fight?

Now for the most important question:
5.How do I stay out of a fight?

All of these topics are covered as well as submission work and how to use your hands and feet in the ring. We ask that students train in Karate or another style as part of this class. The top fighters today have a strong base in ONE system and they move on. As with all our training, students are to show respect to everyone.
