Iaido & Kendo (Japanese sword fighting)

Iaido and Kendo although typically linked are completely different. Iaido is an art dealing with traditional drawing and cutting properly with a Japanese sword. Although there are many two person practice drills, and many beautiful aspects of the art, the student will always strive for a pure stroke or proper cut. Iaido is not a competition and as such anyone can train without fear of injury or embaressment. The class meets every week and practice last for about an hour. Please contact the school for exact times and training. Private training is available on request. For more information on style and history of Iaido, please consult Sensei Corella's site at: http://www.kenshindojo.net/

Kendo is sport sword fighting. After swords where banned in the Japan and the Samurai had begun to die out, the sword masters belived Kendo to be the best way to hold onto the spirit and traditions attached to the soul of the Samurai, which remains to this day in the sword. We currently have training classes for students interested in Kendo, from there students can be put in touch with our head school as well as competition information.

At this time classes are held on thursdays at 7:30 please call about other times.
